Custom sheet metal enclosure China projects are where a sourcing agent earns its keep: one cabinet can involve laser-cut panels, bent frames, welded seams, purchased hardware, a powder-coated finish and an assembly check – usually from more than one supplier. We coordinate those suppliers as an independent sourcing and freight partner, quote the full bill of materials, and take responsibility for inspection and delivery. We are not a fabricator; we assemble the right capability around your drawing.
Where Demand Is Coming From
Energy storage cabinets, charging-pile housings, inverter boxes, industrial control and HMI cabinets, network enclosures and outdoor electrical cabinets are the categories Chinese fabrication suppliers now feature most prominently. They track the growth of storage, solar, power distribution and industrial automation exports. Enclosures are also a classic multi-interface product: door alignment, cable entry, DIN rails, hinges, seals and mounting plates all have to agree, and no single workshop is automatically the best at all of them.
What We Can Source
| Enclosure type | Typical features | Processes involved |
| Control and HMI cabinets | Screen cutouts, mounting plate, door, lock, cable glands | Laser cutting, bending, welding, powder coating, assembly |
| Energy storage and battery housings | Sealed seams, reinforced base, ventilation, lifting points | Bending, TIG/MIG welding, leak test, finishing |
| Outdoor electrical cabinets | Weather sealing, corrosion protection, RAL colour match | Forming, gasketing, coating, hardware fitting |
| Electronics and telecom boxes | Connector cutouts, EMI shielding, silk-screen marking | Laser cutting, PEM hardware, plating or anodising |
| Brackets, covers, panels, frames | Repeatable flats and bend lines | Laser cutting, press braking, stamping at volume |
At higher volumes some of those flat parts may be cheaper stamped than laser cut. Our CNC vs stamping vs sheet metal comparison covers the decision, and our custom metal stamping parts page covers the tooling side.
What We Need to Quote Your Enclosure
- 2D drawings for each panel and the assembled view, plus a 3D assembly file where available.
- Sheet material and thickness, bend radii, weld details, and the target protection rating defined by your team.
- Hardware schedule: hinges, locks, glands, PEM inserts, DIN rails, seals and fasteners – purchased items belong in the quote, not in an assumption.
- Finish: powder coating with the colour reference, anodising, plating or galvanising, and any silk-screen or laser marking.
- Assembly requirement: flat-pack, pre-assembled, or pre-fitted with subcomponents you supply.
- Quantity tiers, destination, and packaging expectations for finished faces.
Ask for the quote as a bill of materials, not a single cabinet price. It makes the difference between two suppliers visible, which is the whole point of reading a quote line by line.
Quality Gates
Door fit, hole alignment and coating consistency are the failures buyers notice first, and they are all interface issues. We verify the fabricator’s real equipment and past work before placing an order (factory verification, plus the CNC supplier checklist where machined inserts are involved), then agree first article inspection on the assembly, an approved golden sample for colour and finish, and pre-shipment inspection to AQL 2.5. Where a protection rating is specified, the test method and report format are agreed before production, not after.
Packing, Consolidation and Freight
Finished panels scratch easily, so protective film and separated packing are specified up front. Enclosures are often shipped with machined brackets, heatsinks and bought-in hardware made elsewhere; we receive everything at our Shenzhen warehouse, reconcile quantities, and consolidate it into one shipment with one set of customs documents. That also simplifies the landed cost calculation. We arrange express, air or sea freight and DDP door-to-door delivery through 100+ routes covering 200+ countries.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you laser-cut as well as stamp flat parts?
Both. Laser cutting suits prototypes, revisions and mixed thicknesses; progressive die stamping suits stable designs at volume. We quote whichever fits, and sometimes both, using the break-even logic in our process comparison guide.
Do you supply hinges, locks and other purchased hardware?
Yes, as part of the itemised bill of materials. Specify brand or equivalent, and we will quote the hardware separately so you can see what it costs.
Can you match a specific powder-coat colour?
Yes, against a stated colour reference. For repeat orders we recommend an approved physical sample, because a colour code alone is not always enough to keep batches consistent.
Can the enclosure ship pre-assembled with other parts?
Often yes. Tell us at RFQ stage whether you want flat-pack or pre-assembled, and whether subcomponents from other suppliers should be fitted before shipment. It changes both packaging and the freight mode.
Who owns the tooling if a die is needed?
The tooling ownership and transfer terms should be written into the order, not left to assumption. Our tooling cost and ownership guide sets out the clauses to agree.
